POMEROY, Ohio – It is said “many hands make light work” and that was certainly the case as family, friends, customers and neighbors came together to help a local business move to a new location.

With sewer project construction threatening to limit access to the store, Amy Blake of “Tuckerman’s on Lincoln” in Middleport made the difficult decision to relocate her business out of the village. Blake found a new home for what will be known as “Tuckerman’s Too” on Main Street in Pomeroy. Blake posted on Facebook that she would like some help with the move and a small army of volunteers showed up.

Blake expressed gratitude for those that showed up to help relocate the business. The volunteers began about 2 p.m. on June 24, 2018 and by about 3:30 p.m. the last box was placed in the new location. Tuckerman’s Too is located in the former Swisher and Loshe Pharmacy building on Main Street.

Blake said of the community support and volunteers that took time out on Sunday afternoon to help her make the move, “It’s bittersweet, but I feel super grateful and blessed for my community and I’m excited to be a part of the Pomeroy merchants. If you had said 6 months ago I would be moving to Pomeroy I would have said that’s crazy and no way, ‘never say never’. Thank you for tour help today I couldn’t have done it with out all of the helpers.”

It is Blake’s plan to be open this Friday, June 29, at Tuckerman’s Too. In addition to the usual Tuckerman’s items available for sale will also be items from River Tern Market. River Tern Market will be one of the vendors included in Tuckerman’s.

Tuckerman’s offers candles, lotions, books, coffee, nostalgic candy and novelty items along with nostalgic items from businesses from “back in the day” as well as many other items. It is a unique shopping experience that will now be an addition to Pomeroy.

Blake says the plan is to return to the Middleport location in about a year when the sewer project should be completed.
