An 18-year-old motorcycle rider died in a crash in west Houston on Tuesday night, according to authorities.
The crash occurred just before 9:20 p.m. on Woodway Drive near Post Oak.
Witnesses informed detectives from the Houston Police Department that the motorcycle was speeding down Woodway and swerving in and out of traffic. HPD said that the 18-year-old collided with the passenger side of an SUV turning into Post Oak.
“When he was making that turn, the motorcycle, going at a high rate of speed, and evidently went around some cars, and must not have seen the vehicle and ran into the passenger side,” said HPD Lt. Willkens. “It appears that pretty much killed him instantly.”
The driver of the SUV was not gravely injured.
The crash is being investigated.
