Man discovered dead in empty police car at Azusa Police Department headquarters

A man was discovered dead inside an unattended police car parked in front of the Azusa Police Department offices in Los Angeles County early Thursday, officials confirmed.

According to the Azusa Police Department, the individual was discovered lifeless at 4:50 a.m. inside a vehicle that was scheduled for mandatory maintenance but was not in active use by police officers.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the location but were unable to save the man, who died shortly before 5 a.m.

The circumstances behind the man’s death are being investigated. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner and the Azusa Police Department Detective Bureau are overseeing the investigation.

The man’s name was not immediately revealed.

The police agency stated that additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
