Jerald Lowe, 31, of Elmont, was charged with two different assaults in 2024 and 2025, according to the Nassau County Police Department on Tuesday, March 31.
On June 14, 2024, Lowe slugged a 35-year-old woman in the face, causing her significant discomfort, swelling, and bruises, according to authorities.
On May 2, 2025, approximately 11 months later, Lowe was driving unlicensed and uninsured when he ran a stop sign and crashed with another car at the junction of Lincoln Street and Rosalind Avenue, according to authorities.
According to authorities, the crash pushed Lowe’s vehicle onto the sidewalk, where it collided with a 58-year-old female pedestrian and shattered her spine. Lowe packed his items and fled the scene on foot, leaving his car behind, according to authorities.
Lowe was apprehended by investigators shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday at his home on Marshall Street, according to police. During the investigation, authorities discovered he was sought in Georgia for obstruction of justice, firearms possession, and reckless behavior.
In New York, he was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious harm.
