PA Fugitive Chris Okoro Apprehended In Bergen County

Chris Ifeanyi Abba Okoro, 28, of Newark, was being held without bail at Bergen County Jail, according to jail records.

Ridgewood police rushed to the train station around 3:30 p.m. after receiving complaints of a suspicious person, according to Police Sgt. John Ward. They discovered Okoro and discovered that he was wanted in Pennsylvania. Okoro was arrested at the request of the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Office and taken to jail.

Detainers in his case were issued in Lehigh and Delaware counties, where he is facing various theft-related offenses, according to court documents. According to court records in New Jersey, he has a history of violations there as well, including possession of a fraudulent motor vehicle insurance card (Westfield), shoplifting (Hillside), lewdness (Somerville), fare evasions (Hoboken), and more.

According to court filings, Okoro was charged in Lehigh County with theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and related offenses following an incident in Salisbury Township on April 23, 2024.

Those charges were held for court after a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Aug. 29, and the matter is still ongoing in the Court of Common Pleas, where trial proceedings have been planned and continued several times. According to court documents, Okoro was first released after posting $25,000 bond; however, a bench warrant was issued, and bail was revoked and forfeited in December 2025.

In a separate Delaware County case, Okoro is charged in connection with an incident in Springfield Township on October 15, 2025. According to court records, the allegations in this case are access device fraud, theft by deceit, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.

The Delaware County case is still continuing and was awaiting a preliminary hearing at the time of the most recent docket update.
