Fairmont woman apprehended for abandoning incapacitated husband after he fell out of bed

A Fairmont woman is in behind bars, accused of abandoning her incapacitated husband on the floor after he fell out of bed, despite having a phone to call for help.

Patricia Adams, 71, has been charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

Court documents state that the incident occurred between March 4th and March 9th. Adams did nothing as she watched her husband tumble out of bed. Police say she knew he couldn’t care for himself or ask for help.

According to the victim’s medical documents, he lay on the floor, surrounded by urine and feces, with open wounds. Adams had phones in his home but never dialed 911.

Adams is currently in the North Central Regional Jail, with a bond of $100,012.
