Four people have been killed in recent shootings on Chicago’s South and West sides.
Bronzeville
A man was killed Thursday in an incident on Chicago’s South Side.
The 42-year-old man got into a verbal confrontation with a male criminal just before 5:35 p.m. Thursday on the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard in the city’s Bronzeville neighborhood.
The offender produced a firearm and fired several shots at the victim. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his left hand, right shoulder, and chest.
The offenders fled the scene on foot.
The victim was seriously injured and transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center. He later died of his injuries.
Area 1 detectives are conducting an investigation.
Greater Grand Crossing
On Wednesday, a teenager was killed in a shooting on the city’s South Side.
An 18-year-old guy was inside a store on the 6600 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the city’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood soon after 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Four perpetrators exited their vehicle, produced firearms, and fired. The victim was struck several times and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the adolescent as Tyrese Smith, who lives in the 4900 block of South Drexel Boulevard.
Detectives in Chicago are conducting an investigation.
Garfield Park
A shooting occurred on the city’s West Side on Monday, killing two people.
A man and a woman were killed in the shooting, which occurred just before 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 2800 block of West Washington Boulevard in the city’s Garfield Park area.
Officers responded to a call reporting two persons shot. A 44-year-old male and a 31-year-old man engaged in a physical dispute inside a home.
During the confrontation, the 44-year-old guy used a sharp instrument to assault the perpetrator.
According to police, the perpetrator retrieved a pistol and fired multiple shots, striking both the victim and a 38-year-old lady who attempted to assist.
The victim suffered many gunshot wounds to his body. The woman had a gunshot wound to the head.
Both were brought to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead.
Police stated the perpetrator had a valid firearm owner identification card and that a firearm was found at the site.
Police said the culprit is in jail and charges are pending.
Area 3 detectives are investigating the incident.
