A child has died after a serious rollover crash closed part of I-17 in north Phoenix on Sunday morning.
A single vehicle crashed on I-17’s northbound lanes at Peoria Avenue around 7:30 a.m., according to reports.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the child died on scene. Four more persons were taken to the hospital, but their current condition is unknown.
Traffic cameras captured footage of a vehicle overturning on the expressway.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, traffic is being rerouted off Peoria Avenue, and cars can re-enter the freeway at Cactus. There is no expected timeline for reopening.
