A retired nursing assistant from Baltimore found herself passing by a lottery machine while exiting a Walmart. With $20 to spare, she purchased three scratch-off tickets. She began by playing the newly launched second edition of THE BIG SPIN scratch-off. After having little luck with the $5 ticket, she spent her remaining $10 on a Scratch & Match scratch-off, which turned out to be a $100,000 top prize winner.
She claimed her prize and shared her story of winning on April 10 at lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Her winning ticket was purchased at Walmart, 112 Carroll Island Road, Middle River. After failing to win on either THE BIG SPIN ticket, she decided to try one of two additional scratch-off tickets. It was either a crossword ticket, which isn’t her favorite game, or Scratch & Match. She chose the Scratch & Match ticket, and it proved to be an excellent pick.
During her visit to the store, the retiree scanned her ticket. When she saw the message to “see the lottery,” she knew she had won but wasn’t sure how much. After scanning the ticket again using the lottery app, she discovered that she had won the top reward of $100,000. Her husband, who was accompanying her, took a close look at the winning ticket, and excitement set in for both of them.
The winner is not new to winning lottery jackpots. She claimed to have previously won a $5,000 reward and a $3,000 prize on two different scratch-offs.
Her objectives for her winnings are to deposit the money in a savings account and use it to support her family.
The Carroll Road Walmart will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling a winning scratch-off worth $100,000.
The $10 Scratch & Match ticket debuted in mid-March. This is the second of ten top prizes in the game to be claimed. There are still two $50,000 prizes and many thousands of smaller prizes available.
