A man is dead and a woman is in custody following a shooting on Sunday afternoon.
Officers from the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) responded to reports of a shooting at a home near South Ridgeway Drive and Country Club Boulevard after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, where they discovered a 31-year-old male inside who had been wounded in the upper body.
Emergency personnel attempted to save his life, but he died on the site. Officers arrested the 31-year-old woman they found outside the home, who had initially directed them inside.
Nothing is formally authorized yet, but officers say she is facing murder charges.
BCPD did not initially share any additional information and stated that the event is still under investigation.
