5 people arrested after drug bust in Louisiana

A large-scale drug bust in Geismar on Thursday resulted in five arrests and the confiscation of more than $250,000 in cash, guns, and several types of narcotics, according to authorities.

The Gonzales Police Department, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a raid on a property on Cypress Ridge Drive. According to investigators, the property was used as a hub for a drug enterprise that spanned the capital region.

During the search, investigators confiscated $257,750 in cash and a money counter. Authorities also seized about a pound of methamphetamine, two pounds of MDMA, cocaine, marijuana, and other painkillers. In addition, three handguns, a rifle, an electronic pill press, and drug packaging supplies were seized. Jewelry was also taken, including a wristwatch and necklace.

Five people were arrested as part of the investigation: Christopher Whitfield Sr., 45; Christopher Whitfield Jr., 21; Dwan Marshae Pointer, 42; Rhesa Pointer, 44; and Kelby Jacobs, 21.

All five were arrested on several drug-related counts. The inquiry is still ongoing, and no further details have been revealed by authorities.
