A homeless man was detained for trespassing at his parents’ Leesburg home in an attempt to obtain food.
The parents of 32-year-old Austin Zachary McDaniel called dispatch at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He had arrived up uninvited at their Tara Village home, laid down, and refused to go.
His mother explained that they had been having issues with his showing up unexpectedly. He came by that day, hoping to receive food, but she did not answer the door. The report stated that she requested that he be trespassed from the premises.
Deputies then went to speak with McDaniel, who was informed that his parents did not want him on the property. He was legally trespassed and instructed not to return. According to the report, he recognized the situation and departed the premises, prompting the officers to leave to go to another incident.
However, dispatch received another call from McDaniel’s mother. She reported that he had returned and started hammering on the door, which she did not respond. He then sat down in a flowerbed on the property, according to the report. He refused to leave.
McDaniel was arrested on the accusation of trespassing on property other than a structure or conveyance. He was booked into the Lake County Jail and bond was set at $1,000.
