Two people were apprehended for a fatal shooting in Central Florida.
The Hillsborough County 911 Dispatch Center got a disturbance complaint from the 1800 block of Lake Chapman Drive in Brandon, near Tampa. When deputies arrived, they discovered a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound inside the home.
Detectives discovered that James Sidney Llanos, 47, and his wife, 39-year-old Lizeina Marie Cepeda, were subletting their apartment on the 1800 block of Lake Chapman Drive to the victim, Travon Jackson, 30.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Sidney Llanos and Lizeina Marie Cepeda in connection with Brandon’s tragic shooting.
On March 9, 2026, Llanos and Cepeda entered Jackson’s flat to evict him. During the altercation, Llanos fatally shot Jackson.
James Sidney Llanos was charged with murder in the first degree while engaged in burglary, as well as armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery (dangerous weapon or explosive) (firearm causing great bodily harm/death).
Lizeina Marie Cepeda was charged with first-degree murder while committing a burglary, as well as burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault or battery.
“This was a senseless act of violence that cost a man his life,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Our detectives worked quickly to piece together what happened and make sure those responsible are held accountable for their actions.”
Local law enforcement officials say the inquiry is still ongoing.
