A 25-year-old woman was apprehended Thursday at Dallas Love Field after an airline partner discovered a significant amount of marijuana inside a broken bag, according to authorities.
The Dallas Police Department Narcotics Unit responded to the airport on April 30 after being notified by airline personnel. According to authorities, a bag on a flight arriving from Las Vegas had broken open, revealing a huge amount of marijuana packed inside.
Narcotics detectives discovered two extra suitcases during their investigation. According to authorities, marijuana was discovered inside the suitcase in vacuum-sealed sachets.
The police recovered 75 pounds of the banned substance. “Our public safety mission includes preventing Dallas from being used as a drug transportation hub,” the department stated in a social media post.
Detectives identified the passenger as Jennifer Manzanares-Herrera. Officers detained the 25-year-old before she could leave the airport grounds.
Manzanares-Herrera has been accused of possessing marijuana weighing between 50 and 2,000 pounds. Under Texas law, the offense is a second-degree crime.
Police did not provide additional information about the airline or the suspect’s bond status.
