Indiana State Police detained two 19-year-olds following a road rage gunshot on I-465 on Saturday. Both are still held without bond.
Lester Posadas was charged with intimidation, pointing a firearm, and criminal carelessness with a deadly weapon. Police apprehended Hector Flores and brought him into Marion County Jail. According to ISP, Flores was driving without a license.
The shooting occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman who said a man in another vehicle shot at her on I-465.
According to ISP, investigators used Flock traffic cameras and other technologies to identify the suspect car, a gray Ford Escape with a phony temporary license plate.
Officers detained Flores and transported him to the Indiana State Police Post. Detectives believe Posadas fired the rounds.
Posadas was detained on April 28 by the ISP SWAT team at an East 40th Street residence.
According to ISP, both individuals confessed separately to the crimes.
Lamont Dean, a community activist who lives near the arrest area, believes the incident highlights a larger issue.
“I grew up on Indianapolis’ near east side… “I’m very disappointed in what’s going on with our youth,” Dean remarked. “But I don’t want to focus solely on the problem. My heart and ambition are to work on answers to that situation.”
State police stated that the arrests send a clear message to aggressive drivers. There were no injuries reported during the shooting.
