Winnebago man apprehended for 11th OWI after nearly crashing

A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper took into custody a man Sunday evening at a gas station near Poynette for his 11th OWI charge.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the 58-year-old Winnebago driver was unable to maintain a lane while traveling south on I-39 near Marquette at 6 p.m. According to Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials, the individual was driving a black GMC Yukon and nearly collided with other vehicles and guard rails.

A state trooper eventually located the Yukon in Columbia County and stopped the man at the Loves Travel Stop, just west of Poynette. Officials say the man was on probation for ten prior OWI convictions.

An investigation is ongoing.
