A death investigation is underway in Polk County following the discovery of human bones in a wooded area on Thursday evening.
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident near the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Morgan Combee Road, just outside of Lakeland, at 7:47 p.m. on May 28, 2026.
According to officials, the investigation into the discovery is ongoing. According to sheriff’s office representatives, more information about the case will most likely be released later today.
