A Cincinnati man was sentenced to prison Friday after admitting to fatally shooting a 23-year-old woman while playing Russian roulette at a party with friends.
Omarion Horne, 23, has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Rachel Counts’ death on October 5, 2025, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.
According to prosecutors, Horne was at a residence on Kings Run Court in Winton Hills with several pals when he removed all but one round from a pistol and stated, “Let’s play Russian roulette.” He then pointed his revolver at Counts, pulled the trigger, and shot her in the chest, killing her.
The Hamilton County Common Pleas Court condemned Horne to 10 to 14 1/2 years in prison. He was arrested shortly after the shooting and has been in detention ever since.
“This tragic case is a heartbreaking reminder that firearms are never toys and should never be used recklessly,” Pillich said in a statement. “What began as a gathering of friends ended with the death of a young woman because someone played with a loaded rifle. There is no safe way to play with firearms.”
