A New Castle, Pennsylvania, man, convicted by a jury of three felonies connected to an assault in Liberty Township, received a consecutive, indefinite prison sentence on Aug. 4 for 10-13.5 years from Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia L. Westcott.
On June 30, a Trumbull County jury convicted Justin Fry-Starrett, 33, of felonious assault, domestic violence, and failure to comply with a police officer’s command or signal.
Assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman expressed satisfaction with both the jury’s judgment and the prison sentence that concluded the case, which included a trial in late June before Westcott. The decision was reached after jurors deliberated for slightly more than an hour.
During the trial, Wildman called two witnesses to testify, in addition to the female victim, who was subpoenaed by the court. Wildman stated that the victim was reluctant to comply.
The lawsuit concerned an incident on September 21, 2025, at a Liberty Township house in which Fry-Starrett hit the female victim in the face.
“This defendant is a dangerous career criminal with a history of hurting women,” Wildman stated. “He needs to be incapacitated for as long as the law permits.”
Wildman complimented the Liberty Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office for their work on the inquiry.
