Columbia resident wins $50,000 as Powerball climbs

A Columbia resident has won big as the Powerball’s largest prize of the year continues to grow.

On Saturday, the Powerball draws for $856 million, the game’s ninth highest prize.

While no one matched all six numbers selected on Wednesday nite to increase the jackpot, a lucky player in Columbia did win $50,000.

That ticket was sold at APG SC #109, located at 538 St. Andrews Road.

Powerball, Wednesday, August 5:

14-20-59-60-61 Powerball®: 25.

Players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their rewards.

The chance of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number is 1 in 913,129.

Every dollar spent on the South Carolina Education Lottery returns to the state to finance education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payments to contractors for goods and services.
