Man apprehended in Horizon City on drug warrants

A traffic stop in Horizon City led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man on an active warrant for possession of a controlled substance, Horizon Police said.

On Monday, August 10, at approximately 11:15 a.m., a Horizon Police officer observed a car with an expired temporary registration.

The officer pulled over the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Joshua Alejandro Rivera.

A routine records check revealed that Rivera had an active criminal warrant issued by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrant was linked to two accusations of possession of a controlled drug. Horizon Police did not indicate what kind of narcotics were used.

Rivera was detained without incident and transferred to the Horizon City Police Department for processing.

He was subsequently taken to the El Paso County Detention Center, where he appeared before a magistrate and was ordered held without bond.
