Authorities in south suburban Harvey are investigating after a man was discovered bound and gagged following a crime in Chicago.
According to Harvey police, the investigation began after a victim was discovered bound and gagged on the porch of a home in the 15500 block of Loomis Avenue in Harvey on Friday.
Following the finding, authorities requested medical help, and the victim, a man estimated to be in his late 30s or early 40s and a dialysis patient, was sent to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
After additional investigation, officers discovered that the victim had been robbed someplace in Chicago before being bound and gagged and transported to Harvey.
“It was a really frightening experience. Our police responded quickly, secured the scene, and ensured that the victim received medical care. Our investigation has revealed that the underlying event occurred in Chicago, and we will work closely with the Chicago Police Department as the investigation progresses,” Harvey Police Chief Dale Mitchell stated.
Officers stated that the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no sign of an ongoing threat to the Harvey neighborhood. An investigation is ongoing.
