A Baltimore County man’s trip to pick up pizza for his family resulted in a $1 million Maryland Lottery scratch-off win.
The Gwynn Oak resident informed Maryland Lottery officials that his wife had asked him to pick up dinner from a new pizza restaurant around two weeks earlier. Disappointed with the amount of the pizza, he drove away and stopped at a neighboring 7-Eleven to buy three $20 Extreme Green scratch-off tickets.
The man played the tickets the next day before going to work. After scanning the final ticket, he received a message indicating a $1 million win.
“I thought something was wrong and scanned it several more times before it sunk in,” he informed Lottery authorities.
The pair accepted the prize on August 31. The winner stated that they intend to become debt-free and eventually start a business.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven on 9856 Liberty Road in Randallstown, which will earn a $1,000 bonus for selling it. Four $1 million top prizes remain in the Extreme Green game.
