Ebony Austin was sentenced to six years in prison, the most recent sentencing of a suspect in a Chicago-to-Green Bay drug ring.
Austin, 37, had previously been convicted of seven counts, including delivering fentanyl and amphetamine. At Friday’s hearing, Judge Timothy Hinkfuss also ordered her to be on extended supervision for four years, according to court records.
Five search warrants were served in Brown County in July 2024. A simultaneous search of a stash house in Chicago turned up 12 kilograms (26 pounds) of fentanyl, four kilograms (nine pounds) of cocaine, 748 grams (1.6 pounds) of meth, 460 grams (one pound) of heroin, 16 weapons, and some marijuana. Prosecutors have since stated that this was Wisconsin’s first wiretap investigation into fentanyl, and at least 47 persons are facing prosecution.
Several more suspects have already received sentences:
- Felton Currie, who police identified as the ringleader, was sentenced to 40 years in prison
- Cheri Austin was sentenced to 15 years in prison
- Michael Oliver was sentenced to 15 years in prison
- Jessica Wright was sentenced to 14 years on prison
Other cases are still pending:
- Kyla Sanache has a status conference Oct. 9
- James Grandberry is scheduled or trial Oct. 19
Grandberry also has an appeal filed, alleging that his charges should be dropped because he waited over a year to hire an attorney and have a preliminary hearing, which is usually needed within 10 days.
