Maryland Gas Station Sells $540K Lottery Jackpot Ticket

A Anne Arundel County woman won a $540,000 Maryland Lottery Multi-Match jackpot after making an unexpected stop at a gas station in Towson.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the winner, who chose the codename “Euphoria,” was coming from an event in Baltimore County when she stopped at the Shell gas station at 935 York Road. She invested $2 of her $6 cash on a single-draw quick-pick Multi-Match ticket.

She checked the ticket on her phone the next day and initially thought she had won $100,000. After learning that a $540,000 jackpot-winning ticket had been sold at the same location, she knew she had won.

The woman, who has worked as a data analyst for over 20 years, accepted her award on October 2. She intends to use the proceeds to upgrade her home, buy a new car for one of her daughters, and pay for college tuition for her three current college students. The Maryland Lottery will pay the Towson Shell a $1,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
