A man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly attempting to disarm an officer during a struggle on Massachusetts Avenue.
The suspect has been identified as Felix Omar David Marrero, 34.
Just after 7 p.m., cops were dispatched to a private residence on Massachusetts Avenue where a group was allegedly taking drugs at the entrance.
Police claim they knew Marrero from a previous meeting, and he gave them a phony name. Officers established his identity and that he had two outstanding warrants.
When police attempted to arrest Marrero, he reportedly resisted, and the conflict spilled into the street. Officers subdued him and requested help.
Police said the suspect attempted to take one of the officer’s Tasers. When that failed, he seized the handle of the officer’s gun and attempted to steal it.
According to the report, officers used additional units to pry his hand free.
Marrero is set to appear in Roxbury District Court on several allegations, including assault and battery and attempting to disarm a police officer.
