Pasco County Car Crash On State Road 54 Kills Zephyrhills Bicyclist

A 42-year-old Zephyrhills woman lost her life Saturday evening after a vehicle struck her while she was riding her bicycle along State Road 54 in Pasco County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Halloween, just west of Morris Bridge Road.

Troopers reported that a 45-year-old Wesley Chapel man was operating a Hyundai Elantra in the westbound direction on SR-54. The bicyclist was traveling in the same direction ahead of the vehicle, riding within the designated bike lane.

Investigators determined that the woman abruptly turned left across traffic, placing herself directly in the path of the oncoming sedan. The Elantra struck her in the roadway.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries, troopers confirmed.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of either individual involved in the crash.
