Local SEOEA Makes Contribution Toward Food Pantry

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – The Southeast Ohio Education Association (SEOEA) contribute to helping area children.

The SEOEA held their monthly executive committee meeting on March 25, 2020 online utilizing Google Meet. During this meeting the committee voted to take the money they are saving from not meeting face-to-face and divide it equally among all of the counties they represent. This money was set aside to go to a group/organization that is helping families in need during this time.

Meigs County’s Representative on the committee, Adam Phillips, contacted the Meigs Cooperative Parish Food Pantry and they will be the recipient of the first donation check.  This donation was made on behalf of the unions represented by OEA in the county (Eastern, Meigs, Southern, and Carleton Schools).

In addition to the donation made to the Meigs County Pantry, the committee also voted unanimously to make a donation to provide food for University of Rio Grande students that are staying on campus and unable to go home due to current travel restrictions.

The SEOEA represents 12 counties (Perry, Morgan, Washington, Hocking, Athens, Vinton, Meigs, Gallia, Jackson, Pike, Lawrence, and Scioto) and includes members that are Pre-K through 12 teachers, school support staff, higher education employees, and retired.
