Fireworks Schedule for Meigs County

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – It just isn’t Independence Day without fireworks. While some of the annual celebrations are not taking place in the county this year, several fireworks displays will continue as scheduled on July 4, 2020.

The fireworks display in Star Mill Park from the Racine Fire Department will be at 10 p.m. Kona Ice will be in the park prior to the fireworks. Social distancing is encouraged.

The Middleport Business Association which organizes the festivities decided not to hold the annual parade as a precaution due to COVID-19, but the fireworks display will continue. The Middleport fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m. They will be launched from the usual location near Dairy Queen. The Middleport Business Association is asking that all spectators practice safe social distancing and remain in their vehicles if possible.

Middleport Police Chief Bruce Swift is reminding residents of the road closures involved with the fireworks as well. In a statement from Chief Swift, “During the fireworks display North 2nd Avenue will be closed to all traffic from the Pomeroy corporation limits to Rutland Street in both directions. North Front Street will also be closed from Rutland Street to the Dairy Queen. This closure will be from approximately 9:30 p.m. until the fireworks are over. Anyone traveling from Middleport to Pomeroy or from Pomeroy to Middleport should travel a different route.”

Fireworks will also be on display at Kountry Resort Campground. The fireworks will be at dark, close to 10 p.m. Those attending should also practice social distancing.
