Everette W. Holcomb, 89, of Albany

Everette W. Holcomb, 89, of Albany, Ohio passed away January 30, 2021, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. 

He was born October 25,1931, in Point Rock, Ohio to the late William Raymond and Maude Elizabeth (Cottrill) Holcomb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Walter Holcomb, and sisters Laura Pickett, Adrienne Fisher, Helen Essex, and Carolyn MacBlane.

He graduated from Columbia High School in 1949. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering and his master’s degree in education from the Ohio State University. He was a retired Army veteran, lifelong farmer and agricultural teacher in Meigs County for over 40 years. Shortly before his retirement, he pursued his entrepreneurial passion and established the Holcomb Tree Farm in 1989. He was a member of the Ohio State Grange for 76 years and served as a trustee for 53 years on the Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative Board. 

While serving in the Army in Texas, he met his wife of 64 years, Vera (McWhorter) Holcomb. He is survived by four children: Pamela Bentz of New Vienna, Ohio, Marcia Holcomb of Merritt Island, Florida, William H. Holcomb (Sandra) of Albany, Ohio, and Ginger Boice (Stephen) of N.Charleston, South Carolina; and six grandchildren: Kara Dutton (Andrew), Kimbralin Holcomb, Lorene Bentz, William A. Holcomb, Norah Boice, and Sophia Boice. 

Visitation was held Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home.  Private family services will be officiated by Pastor Donnie Quisenberry. Burial will be in Castor Cemetery with military services by Albany V.F.W. Post 9893 and KT Crossen Post 21, American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Columbia Chapel Church in Albany, Ohio and Star Grange in Langsville, Ohio.
