POMEROY, Ohio – A waterline break has closed the road on East Main Street in Pomeroy. The road is closed in front of the former Midwest Steel location and Village Hall. East Main Street between Spring Avenue and Powell’s will be temporarily closed as crews work to repair the break. Access for individuals to businesses on East Main Street past Spring Avenue will still be able to access them from Condor Street.

“The Village of Pomeroy is experiencing a Water Main issue near the Village Hall. Please avoid Main Street between Powells and Wendy’s so that our employees can make the necessary repairs. You may experience low pressure and in some cases loss of water service. At this time we have no estimate when service will be restored,” stated Chuck Blake, Pomeroy Code Enforcement on the village’s Facebook page.

Last night the line broke, prompting a call for Pomeroy Fire Department to respond. Pumper 1 and Rescue 4 responded and maintained one lane of traffic control until Pomeroy Public Works arrived and ODOT closed the roadway.

Crews were working through the night and remain on scene to repair the break. No information on an estimated time of repair has been released at the time of this publishing.

Some residents in the village may have low water pressure or no water service until repairs are completed.
