Judith Diane Sturm Adams, 80, of Reedsville
Judith Diane Sturm Adams, 80, of Reedsville, Ohio passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at Camden Clark Hospital after a second battle with Cancer.
Judy was born on September 6, 1940 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, daughter of the late Okey Woodrow Sturm and Ruth Geraldine Jones Sturm. She graduated from Parkersburg High School, class of 1958. Judy was a member of the Unity Singers and the Coolville Community Choir for over 40 years. She was a member of White’s Chapel Wesleyan Church where she held several different offices over many years. She worked at Ralph’s Market, Best Photo and later, at Ohio University, from which she eventually retired.
Judy was an avid reader, solitaire player, and a jigsaw puzzle wizard. In her younger days, she loved camping and riding her motorcycle. She dearly loved singing and was a really fine soprano. Her dream as a high school senior was to attend the Juilliard School of Music to study opera; unfortunately, family finances prevented the realization of that dream. Judy hated cooking and as a result, she may have starved if she hadn’t married a really good cook, Clifford Lawrence Adams, in August 1964. They were married 56 years until his death in September 2020.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Sonya Ray, two sons, Douglas Adams (and wife Debra) and Christopher Adams (and wife Kaci), her big little brother, Dwight Eugene Sturm who was always there for her and who she adored, four Grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Cole and Zoey Adams, four Great Grandchildren, Justin Jr, Holly, Louis and Ryan Adams, many nieces and nephews, including Butch Heater who was a great help to her, and her favorite cousin, Charlotte Hamrick.
Judy loved her Church family and her best girlfriends, Shirley Barber, Fran Putman, Sue Matheny, and Shelva Lipscomb. She much appreciated all of her great neighbors, past and present, Brenda Randolph, Ella Dillon, Rose and Ken Fluharty, Sonny Cline, and Nancy and Randy Wachter, who helped her and Clifford so much over the years.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Adams, her brother, Phillip Wayne Sturm, her sister, Patricia Ruth Michaels and her cousin, Colleen Presley.
