Crash Results in Fatality on US 33
RACINE, Ohio – A two vehicle crash has resulted in a one fatality.
According to the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol the crash occurred on Dec. 18, at approximately 8:10 p.m. on US 33 near mile post 24 in Meigs County. The OSHP stated that Kaila K. Christian, 24, of Stateville, North Carolina, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruz. Ann D. Johnson, 67, of Dalton, Georgia, was driving a 2019 Freightliner semi. Christian was traveling westbound on US 33 attempting to pass another vehicle and struck Johnson’s vehicle head on in the eastbound lane. Christian’s vehicle then came to rest of the westbound side of the roadway. Her passenger, Brenton C. McDonald, 19, of Olin, North Carolina, was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash. According to OSHP, McDonald was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Holzer Medical Center Meigs Emergency Department for his injuries. Christian was transported to Holzer Medical Center Meigs Emergency Department where she was pronounced deceased.
The Patrol was assisted by Racine Fire Department, Meigs County EMS, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, 33 Auto Towing, First Response Towing and Mason EMS.
