Racine Woman Among Those Arrested in Gallia County

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – A Racine woman has been arrested in connection with alleged narcotics activity during the execution of a search warrant in Gallia County.

According to Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin, a search warrant was served at a residence on Little Kyger Road in Cheshire Township on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Sheriff Champlin stated that search warrant yielded narcotics and stolen property.

Sheriff Champlin states, “On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Deputies and Detectives with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office conducted an Aggressive Criminal Interdiction Detail (A.C.I.D.) focused on several target locations around the county. As a part of this detail we developed intelligence regarding a residence located on Little Kyger Road which we were successful in obtaining and serving a search warrant on. As a result of the search warrant, narcotics, cash and stolen property were all recovered from the property. In addition, four individuals were taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Gallia County Jail. Those individuals are: Melvin Valentine Jr., age 46, Gallipolis, Ohio who has been charged with possession of narcotics and trafficking in narcotics. Christina Belcher, age 38, Gallipolis, Ohio who has been charged with possession of narcotics trafficking in narcotics. Shyla Jarrell, age 34, Racine, Ohio who was arrested on a warrant as a fugitive from justice. Derek Daniels, age 40, Cheshire, Ohio who was arrested for outstanding warrants. Further charges are pending consultation with Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren’s Office.”

Champlin further states, “If you are suffering from addiction and you need help, the time to reach out for help is now. Our local partners in the substance abuse community are prepared to help you. If you are trafficking drugs in our communities, no matter the amount or frequencies, we are coming for you. It’s going to be a long summer and you might as well plan on looking over your shoulder, as we are coming.”

Jarrell has previous convictions in Meigs County for trafficking and misuse of credit cards.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
