One in Juvenile Custody Following Alleged Assault of Another

POMEROY, Ohio – One individual is in custody following allegations of an assault on a minor.

According to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an alleged assault of a minor child. The incident allegedly occurred in the around 4 a.m. on July 24, 2022 on Kerr Street in Pomeroy, Ohio. The incident allegedly involved video and social media also.

According to the statement, “The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office has conducted several interviews and have made one arrest. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending on other individuals. The names of the individuals involved will not be released at this time as this matter is still under investigation. Sheriff Wood requests that if you have any pertinent information regarding this investigation that you contact his office at 740-992-3371 and speak with an officer.”

Juvenile names are not released unless they are charged as adults. The Meigs County Prosecutor James Stanley was consulted on the case. Pomeroy Police Department and Juvenile Officers were also involved in the investigation.
