Bessie Fisher Lanier

Bessie Fisher Lanier, 77, of Southside, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2023 after an extended illness. 

Bessie was born on April 22, 1945 to the late George and Myrtle Quillen.  Bessie lived in Meigs County most of her life where she raised 4 children. She retired from Imperial Electric after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Beech Hill United Methodist Church in Southside, West Virginia.

Bessie loved her family and friends very much.  She never knew a stranger an would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.  The true loves of her life were her 7 grandkids and 14 great grandkids.  She loved being a mother and grandmother.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Fisher; brothers, Tommy, Buster and George Quillen; daughter, Angie Kerr; an unborn grandchild; and a brother-in-law, Larry Janey.

She is survived by her husband, James Lanier; sons, David (Cheryl) Fisher of Rutland, Dewayne Fisher of Mason, and Jay (Christy) Fisher of Middleport; brother, Ronnie (Joyce) Quillen; sisters, June (Ted) Stewart and Carolyn Janey; several grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Middleport with Pastor Ronnie Tote officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Middleport.  Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home.  A dinner in honor of Bessie will take place after the services at the New Hope Nazarene Church in Middleport.
