Meigs County Community Calendar

Saturday, Dec. 9

Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Pomeroy branch of the Meigs County District Public Library from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event will be held in the River Room. Breakfast will be pancakes, milk, and orange juice. Photos will be taken of each family and made available online through the library’s Facebook page.

There will be a live nativity at Star Mill Park in Racine, Ohio from 4-8 p.m. Light refreshments, prayer booth, music, family craft, and a photo booth will also be available. All activities are free.

Sunday, Dec. 10

The Meigs Marauder Band will present their annual Christmas Concert 2 p.m. at the high school. The concert will include both the middle school and high school bands. The concert is free to attend.

Tuesday, Dec. 12

The Meigs County Board of Health will meet in regular session on Dec. 12, 2023 at 5 p.m. in the conference room of the Meigs Co. Health Department, which is located at 112 E. Memorial Drive in Pomeroy.

Thursday, Dec. 14

The Meigs Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at noon at the district office. The office is located at 113 E. Memorial Drive, Suite D, Pomeroy.

Friday, Dec. 15

The Meigs-Gallia CASA is hosting “An Evening with Santa” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Meigs County Juvenile/Probate Court in Pomeroy. Free photos with Santa, hot chocolate, cookies and milk, will be available along with free giveaways and prizes. There will be a backdrop for family photos. For more information contact the Meigs-Gallia CASA. The Meigs County Juvenile/Probate Court is located at 112 E. Memorial Drive in Pomeroy.

Saturday, Dec. 16

Santa Claus will be visiting Meigs Carpet and Decorating Center from 5-7 p.m. Each child will receive a gift from Santa along with being able to have photos taken for free. Smoke ’em BBQ will also be at the store. The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tony Sands and his live band Swingtopia, will be performing the great standards of Sinatra, and the Classic Christmas Songs at the Blakeslee Center in Middleport, Ohio beginning at 7 p.m. This is an all ages show with tickets ranging in price from $18.00 – $25.00. For information on tickets, contact the Blakeslee Center.

Wreath Adventures will once again be honoring those who have served our country with the laying of wreaths on graves. For details about specific cemeteries in Meigs, Athens or Morgan Counties, go to www.wreathadventures.org to volunteer or donate toward providing wreaths on the graves of veterans.

Tuesday, Dec. 19

The Meigs County District Public Library will hold Kids’ Cookies and Canvas at the Pomeroy library. Artists of all skill levels are welcome for this step-by-step painting-instruction class, designed for kids. Children of elementary-school age will learn some basic techniques and leave with a finished painting. Participants are invited to wear holiday pajamas while painting and enjoying cookies with hot cocoa. This program is for children ages 5 – 12. Registration required, call 740-992-5813 to register. Space and supplies are limited.
