James Marlin Caudill
James Marlin Caudill, 54 of Middleport Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on July 24, 1969 in Logan Ohio, to Cassandra (Dan) Bolin and the late Jimmie P. Caudill.
James, also known as “Jamie”, was a loving family man who cherished his loved ones. He had a warm and welcoming personality, never meeting a stranger.
Jamie had a passion for hunting and fishing enjoyed sharing stories about his outdoor adventures. His favorite fishing buddies were Braydan and his Father-in-law Bill Nicholson. This summer he enjoyed preparing the land for deer season with his (brother-in-law) B.J., Bill, and Bray. He enjoyed hunting with all of them and his nephew Alex.
As a child, Jamie enjoyed boxing with his uncles who were like his brothers; “Biff” and AL Roberson. They were called the “Junk Yard Boys.” Jamie won several awards including the ” Golden Glove” award. In addition to boxing, Jamie loved most sports including golf, football, and baseball. During Jamie’s senior year he was offered to join the RIO Grande Baseball Team.
In his early years, Jamie followed in his father’s footsteps and learned the ropes of operating heavy equipment and at the age of 18, he began working at Nimco Propane Company, delivering gas to customers in the McArthur area. During summers, he would join his father in constructing golf courses or timber cutting. Jamie retired from Nimco after 25 years of dedicated service but soon found himself working in Maintenance at CHS, where his wife Miranda, also worked. In his later years, Jamie volunteered for projects at nursing homes and provided transportation for Miranda when she worked out of town.
Jamie was a member of the Bradford Church of Christ, where he found solace and community. His faith was an important aspect of his life. Beyond his professional and religious commitments, Jamie had a deep love for the outdoors and wildlife. He enjoyed scouting for various animals, and as he grew older, he found joy in simply observing them. Jamie was an avid angler and took great pride in catching a Bluegill and Crappie that qualified for “Fish Ohio”.
A service to honor Jamie’s life will be held on December 18, 2023 at the Anderson McDaniel in Pomeroy Ohio. Visiting hours will be held between 12-2pm., with the services commencing at 2:00p.m. Following the service, a dinner will be held at The Bradford Church of Christ Activity Building.
Jamie is survived by his mother, Cassandra (Dan) Bolin; sister Racheal Caudill; loving wife, Miranda Caudill; daughter, Jaylynn (Tanner) Vanaman; sons Braydan Caudill and Derek Bownes; nephew, Alex Lusk; niece, Paige Lusk; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy P. Caudill, and his paternal and maternal grandparents, AL and Frankie Roberson, and Virgil and Dellie Caudill, as well as his uncle, AL Jr. Roberson.
Jamie’s warmhearted nature, love for his family, and passion for the outdoors will be deeply missed. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration for all.
