Opal Eugenia Ronk, 93 of Guysville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 26, 2024 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born Mach 12, 1931 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Everrettt and Edna Mae Sanborne King.

A graduate of Shade High School, Opal led her life with many hobbies and passions. She was a simple woman who never needed flash, though loved to tend her beautiful garden. She always had lovely flowers and enjoyed bird watching especially anytime a cardinal was near. Her sense of humor could light up a room and was one of the many reasons all around her knew she cared for them. She was known as “grandma” to everyone in her life. Her biggest passion was sewing as she made countless quilts for her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Leota McDaniel, Mary Cullums, Leila Cullums; 13 grandchildren; countless great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Swartz, Dorothy Atha; special sister-in-law, Delores Miller; and special friend, Mary Simpson.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Orland Russell Cullums; second husband, Berl Ronk; grandchild of Ryan and Phyllis Saylor; and six siblings.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home where a funeral service will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Burial will follow in Clarks Chapel Cemetery. You may call upon the family on Wednesday from 11AM until the start of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital may be made. You may sign the online guestbook or leave the family a message of sympathy at www.ehwfh.com.
