Middleport Village to Meet Tonight, Discuss Grant Use Options
MIDDLEPORT – The Middleport Village Council will be meeting tonight at 7 p.m at the Village Hall. One of the topics on the agenda will be a grant through the Meigs County Grants Office through the Meigs County Commissioners.
The grant will provide $300,000 for various community projects in Middleport. The grant use will be determined by the public, so public input and attendance at the meeting is important according to Mayor, Michael Gerlach. Some of the things the grant may be used for include improvements to streets, sidewalks community centers, park and recreation, public sewer and water systems, and fire facilities. The grant may also be used to provide fire equipment and demolish unsafe structures.
In order for the village to qualify for the grant, the residents need to have in put. The Grants Office and the Village of Middleport Mayor’s Office will be distributing Needs Surveys for residents to have their say in what repairs and/or improvements are deemed most important.
