leaf snowMEIGS COUNTY – Meigs County is in for a weekend of cold temperatures according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will be dangerously cold with wind chill values making the temperature feel far below zero. Meigs County is under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m. on Friday. The wind chill advisory is due to the low temperatures and winds that will be blowing through the region. Frostbite and hypothermia are possible in such extremely cold temperatures.

Schools in the area have already called for two hour delays related to the weather and the refreezing of slush on streets. Roads will be slick in spots, especially where partially melted spots will be refreezing.

The National Weather Service is giving the area quite the cold outlook for the next week. For the Thursday night, it will remain partly cloudy, with a low around 1. Wind chill values will be as low as -12 with a west wind around 10 mph.

Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 20. Wind chill values as low as -13 with the a southwest wind 9 to 15 mph. Friday night, more snow is likely, mainly after 4 a.m. There will be increasing clouds, with a low around 18 degrees. A southwest wind will be blowing at 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday snow is likely, mainly before noon. Temperatures will near 32 degrees and it will be cloudy. A southwest wind of 16 to 18 mph is expected, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Saturday night it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 10 degrees. Saturday night will be breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph after midnight.

Sunday there is a chance of snow, mainly between noon and 3pm. It will be mostly cloudy and breezy with a high near 36 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday night there is a chance of snow between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
