POMEROY – The Meigs County Commissioners recognized Colleen Williams Thursday for her service as prosecuting attorney.

Williams has served as the Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney for two terms. “I have enjoyed my eight years here,” Williams said during the regular meeting.

Williams’ last day in the office is December 30, 2016. She will be on hand through the weekend if there is an incident, however.

She is not the only one leaving the office. Meigs County Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Fisher has accepted a position as assistant prosecutor in Gallia County to work with the newly elected prosecutor, Jason Holdren. The commissioners made note of the work both have done for the county.

“We wish you both the best of luck and appreciate your service,” said Tim Ihle, Meigs County Commissioner and commission president.

James Stanley won the primary election on the Republican ticket, defeating Williams for the prosecutor’s position. Williams told the commissioners she tried to do everything possible to make the transition go smoothly for the incoming prosecuting attorney. Stanley steps into his new position Monday.
