Law enforcement apprehended an Itawamba County educator.
Itawamba County Chief Deputy Adam Kostelansky confirmed Jamie Edwards, 45, arrest on Thursday.
Investigators charged him with three counts of attempting to get a controlled drug through larceny.
Edwards worked as the assistant principal of Itawamba Agricultural High School. Specific information concerning his alleged misdeeds has not been published.
Austin Alexander, superintendent of the Itawamba County School District, issued a statement on Friday morning that addressed “personnel” issues.
“We are aware that there are many rumors circulating regarding the second, unrelated incident. That matter remains an open investigation. If it is discovered that any criminal act occurred, our office will respond accordingly with the appropriate legal action.
If any member of the public has reliable information that they believe will help with this continuing investigation, they should contact the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office directly.”
