A former school crossing guard was apprehended after reportedly being found inside a parked vehicle with a minor.
According to WTVG, 23-year-old Timothy Alan Warthen the Second was arrested after authorities received a report of an older-looking male possibly having intimate contact with a child inside a car parked near the Martin Luther King Jr. Pedestrian Bridge in Monroe, Michigan, on the night of August 30.
When investigators arrived on the scene, Warthen was arrested after allegedly telling police that he and the child were dating.
Warthen was a part-time school crossing guard for Ida Public Schools, but the school alerted police that he had been terminated, according to WTVG.
According to the report, the suspect was brought to the Monroe County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
The school district released the following statement to WTVG:
“Ida Public Schools was recently made aware of misconduct allegations involving a part-time, hourly employee that do not appear to involve the Ida district. Upon receiving the information, the district immediately placed the individual on leave.
Local law enforcement is conducting a thorough investigation and the district is cooperating fully with the authorities.
