A former private school teacher in Plano who was accused of grooming one of his students will serve 20 years in jail.

According to court documents, Jacob Allred pleaded guilty earlier this week to sexual performance by a child, a second-degree crime.

A judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison, the maximum for the offense.

Allred was a teacher at Great Lakes Academy in Plano.

He was detained in January 2024 after police reported that one of his students said he sent her inappropriate messages via a chat app.

The 15-year-old victim came forward to her parents, and the family immediately contacted the Plano Police Department. Police say she handed over screenshots of their conversations, which were extremely graphic.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the girl informed police that Allred initially approached her in the school library in October 2023 and said he had affections for her. Two weeks later, the youngster said Allred had added her on the Discord app.

She claimed Allred would inquire about “the color of her underwear and talk about ‘his sexual desire for her.'” Also on the app, she stated that Allred would advise her what to wear and provide more personal details about his sentiments.

By November 2023, the teen stated that things had become physical. That continued during the holiday break.

Plano police requested a search warrant for Allred’s phone in January 2025, but he refused to cooperate, even fleeing the building when officers arrived at Great Lakes Academy.

Eventually, detectives obtained Allred’s phone. According to the affidavit, they discovered conversations that substantiated the claims made against him.

Allred worked at Great Lakes Academy for over four years.
