A two-vehicle crash on Iowa Highway 7 late Saturday night killed two people and injured four, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m., roughly three miles east of Manson.

According to authorities, a 2012 Chevrolet Express van driven by 46-year-old Wilfredo Quevedo Mesa of Storm Lake was heading westbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven eastbound by Conner Darr, 21, of Manson.

Following the crash, both vehicles deserted the road. The van turned onto its side in a ditch, while the pickup truck crashed into a utility pole and came to rest in a field.

Three unrestrained passengers were reportedly sitting on patio furniture in the rear of the van at the time of the collision.

Two people were killed: Storm Lake residents Alondra Bravo, 26, and Jorge Perez Hechavarria, 34. Four additional people were hurt, including Storm Lake residents 8-year-old Luis Bravo, 46-year-old Marina Escalante, and 46-year-old Wilfredo Quevedo Mesa, as well as Manson resident Conner Darr.

The investigation is now ongoing.
