Vadito, New Mexico — A coordinated law enforcement effort has culminated in the arrest of a man sought in connection with an April 2025 homicide in Albuquerque. Authorities confirmed that Wyatt Gonzales was taken into custody in Vadito following a joint operation involving the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) and the Albuquerque Police Department (APD).
APD’s Investigative Support Unit requested NMSP’s assistance on October 20, 2025, as detectives worked to locate Gonzales. The New Mexico State Police deployed resources from its Crime Suppression Bureau alongside its Tactical Team, leading to the successful identification of Gonzales and his girlfriend, Vanessa Ward.
Both individuals surrendered without incident and were peacefully taken into custody, officials said. The arrest marks a significant step in a months-long search tied to the Albuquerque homicide earlier this year.
NMSP emphasized its ongoing partnership with APD and other agencies to remove violent offenders and safeguard communities across the state. APD continues to lead the investigation into the April homicide as the case moves forward.
