Baltimore, MD — The National Weather Service office in Baltimore/Washington has placed parts of central and northern Maryland, as well as northern and central Virginia, under a Freeze Warning from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Forecasters expect subfreezing temperatures, with lows dipping to around 29°F just before daybreak Saturday. Areas included in the warning are Frederick, Carroll, and northern Baltimore Counties in Maryland, along with Loudoun, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Prince William Counties in Virginia.

A cold front sweeping through the Mid-Atlantic will usher in the coldest air of the season so far, likely ending the growing season in several inland locations. Frost and freeze conditions may kill sensitive plants and could damage outdoor plumbing that isn’t protected.

How to prepare:
– Bring potted plants indoors or cover tender vegetation.
– Disconnect and drain garden hoses; protect outdoor faucets.
– Shield exposed pipes and irrigation lines where possible.
– Ensure pets have warm, dry shelter overnight.

After the frosty start, sunshine should help temperatures rebound into the mid-50s by Saturday afternoon. Another chilly night is possible into Sunday morning.
