A cold snap is on the way for the Mid-Atlantic. The National Weather Service’s Baltimore/Washington office has issued a Frost Advisory for Washington, D.C., central and southern Maryland, and northern and central Virginia, in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Overnight lows are expected to fall to around 32 degrees, setting the stage for widespread frost across much of the DC metro. Areas under the advisory include Fairfax and Arlington in Virginia, as well as Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Charles, and Montgomery Counties in Maryland. The alert also covers Cecil, Calvert, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland, along with King George County in Virginia.

Forecasters say clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to drop quickly, making this one of the chilliest mornings so far this fall. Widespread frost could damage or kill sensitive plants that aren’t protected.

What to do tonight:
– Protect tender vegetation by covering it or moving potted plants indoors.
– Drain garden hoses.
– Ensure pets and outdoor animals have warm, sheltered spaces before sunrise.

After the frosty start, sunshine will return and temperatures will rebound into the mid-50s by afternoon.
