Eureka, CA — The National Weather Service office in Eureka has placed Del Norte County under a Wind Advisory today, covering Crescent City, Smith River, Gasquet, and Klamath from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southwest winds are forecast to blow steadily at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 60 mph over exposed coastal headlands and higher ridgelines. The most intense conditions are expected late this morning into early afternoon before gradually tapering off later in the day.

These gusty winds could make driving hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and may lead to small branches snapping or isolated power disruptions in open, wind-prone areas.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor belongings and exercise extra caution on U.S. Highway 101 and other exposed coastal routes.

Winds should ease by late afternoon as the front moves inland. For real-time updates and hazard maps, visit weather.gov/eureka.
